Delta Kappa Epsilon Pin
Content Description
Pin, enameled, with DKE in gold on a white scroll against a black diamond-shaped lozenge, with stars; reverse has "TAU" inscribed above (Hamilton has the Tau chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon), and then "M.J. Sherwood 1886". Myron J. Sherwood was class of 1886 and a member of DKE. In some way the pin came to the UK, to Dorothy Bessie Ince, who married Charles Wiltshaw. No link between Myron Sherwood and the UK or Dorothy Bessie Wiltshaw has yet been determined. Sherwood came to the college from Houston, Texas, and was in 1932 a resident of Marquette, Michigan (according to the 1932 Complete Alumni Register). He practiced law in Marquette, Michigan, and died in 1936. Ancestry.com includes a 1920 passport application — but apparently he was only going to visit Cuba, so that doesn’t help with any UK connection. His wife was Maude Benjamin Bedell, born in 1873 in Michigan, and they had two sons, John Uriah (1898-1913) and Myron Lee (1902-1979).
