Austin, March 16, 1886, thanking him for an honor announced by the Northwestern Literary and Historical Society (but see https://transcription.si.edu/project/6834, which states that Benjamin W. Austin of Liberia "assembled his collection [of autographs] by deceptive methods, for instance 'making them [people] believe that they were being honored with a membership in non-existent scholarly societies, such as the Northwestern Literary and Historical Society, or the Trinity Historical Society in Texas'").
