Content Description
2 bound books, handwritten by William James Lonsdale, class of 1901. One book has "Notes taken on the wing" written on the front, "Notes on Fosdick" on the spine, and "Notes of a Bachelor 1903-1904, Wm James Lonsdale, Benedict & Domine, September 1904 +" on the flyleaf. The journal entries begin Sept. 27, 1903 and continue until Sept. 1910. The other half of the book, the other way up, has "The use of the Bible in Modern Preaching" on the cover, and contains notes from Sept. 28, 1920, through May 2, 1921. The flyleaf says these are notes "copied from the notes in class of Allen W. Clark 1920-1921 of lectures by Professor Harry Emerson Fosdick Union Theological Seminary (class of 1904)." The other book has inscribed on the flyleaf "My English Trip. July 21st 1903 to September 12th 1903. Wm James Lonsdale, Senior, Union Theological Seminary." The other half of the book, the other way up, has notes on Epistles and other theological subjects.
