Letter accompanying items says: "I wore my beanie--in lieu of my mortar board for graduation and when I left the stage immediately after receiving my diploma (in Latin no less) I went to where my parents were, until that moment, proudly seated and gave my diploma to my mom and loudly announced 'Here Mom, you worked harder for this than I; congratulations!'"
