Letter from E.N. Jencks, Springfield, Mass, Nov. 2, 1843, to Caroline Baldwin, New Boston, Berkshire Co. He describes receiving a scholarship from "Mrs. Thompson" to come to Hamilton, and is on his way there. There is no record of his being at Hamilton College (although an Edwin H. Jenks graduated with the class of 1886, after growing up with his grandmother in Deansboro). Brown University records Erasmus Norcross Jencks, non-graduate of the class of 1846.
