Papers of David H. Beetle, class of 1930, including correspondence, newsclippings, and other files related to his career in journalism and writing, focused mostly on his many years as writer and ultimately editor of the Albany Knickerbocker News, a part of the larger Gannett News Service. Beetle also worked as a freelance writer, specializing in personal and editorial journalism and selling his early stories to a variety of magazines, newspapers, etc., as well as working briefly in the Hamilton College publicity department (see 2012.38.16). An avid outdoorsman and politically-/civically-minded citizen, Beetle also played a role in hiking groups (see 2012.38.16) and was involved in the Hudson-Champlain Year of History celebration in Albany (2012.38.08). Also includes labeled botanical specimens.
